QUESTIONNAIRES

Q: What is the IQCODE looking at? A: This questionnaire is asking the participants next of kin to remember what their friend or relative was like 10 years ago, and to compare it to what they were like just before they had their recent stroke. It is important that the data captured for this is comparing how the participant was before their stroke rather than after they had it.

Q: How do you calculate the overall PROMIS-10 score? A: Please use the link below to calculate the score: https://www.orthotoolkit.com/promis-10

Q: The health and social care resources questionnaire that is collected during the 90 day follow-up is very in-depth and we are unable to get all the answers.   A: If the patient does not know the exact answer then estimations are ok

Q: For the MoCA, there is a sub-section where there the patient taps to the letter A, however, patients are reporting difficulty doing this. What should be done in this situation? A: The derivation paper (Pendlebury et al., Stroke, 2013) suggests the following: For the MoCA sustained attention task in which subjects tap on the desk during face-to-face testing, subjects were instructed to tap the side of the phone with a pencil.

Q: I was looking at the IQCODE copy that I have, and noticed that it states, “if the patient is deceased”. But my patient is alive? Am I using the wrong questionnaire? A: Apologies for this, we may have missed giving you a copy of the IQCODE for patients who are alive. If this is the case, please contact your lead Practitioner or Trial Manager for a copy of the correct form.

Q: Who completes the IQCODE? A: The friend or relative will need to complete the IQCODE, not the patient.

Q: There are 2 sub-sections of the MoCA that has pictures. If we collect this information from the patient over the phone, how do we do complete this? A: If you are completing the MoCA over the phone, you don’t need to complete the Visuospatial/Executive, and the Naming Sections. These fields will be disabled in MACRO when you tick that it is completed over the phone. For the other sub-sections, you just enter the score for each of the sub-sections.

Q: If no relative or friend is available, is it acceptable to omit IQCODE? A: The IQCODE can be omitted if you are unable to get in touch with a NOK. It should be completed whenever possible. Not being able to complete the IQCODE should not limit randomisation.

Q: If IQCODE is not done, is it going to be a protocol deviation? A: It is a protocol deviation if the IQCODE was missed by the team, but not a protocol deviation if it was unable to be completed; no NOK or friend available. Please add a comment to MACRO (right click, comment) as to why it has not been completed for the participant. Please ignore the warning in MACRO that states otherwise. This is being removed in the next MACRO update.
