Review paper: This in-depth review paper by David Seiffge and collaborators highlights OPTIMAS as one of the important trials assessing the optimal timing of DOAC in stroke patients with AF!

 

 

Trial update: The OPTIMAS trial concluded its recruitment phase on 31st January 2024. Our 100 sites collectively recruited 3648 participants, far exceeding our original recruitment target! The trial is now in follow-up.

This trial, funded by the British Heart Foundation, aims to answer one of the key clinical challenges in stroke medicine: what is the optimal timing of anticoagulation in acute ischaemic stroke associated with atrial fibrillation? We are looking forward to working with research teams around the UK to complete the trial and improve the care of patients with stroke.
